Take pressure cooker, transfer cleaned dal, add sufficient water, pinch of turmeric powder, chopped tomatoes & 2-3 green chilli, little tamarind and mix well. Then close the lid of pressure cooker & allow to come 2-3 vesicles.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan; add mashed garlic saute for 1 min, add dry red chilli, now add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, turmeric powder, hing saute for 1 more min.
Now tomato dal is ready to serve. Serve it with rice or roti.
