Sweet Pongal

Method of Preparation:

  • In a bowl take rice (1cup) and moong dal (1/2cup), wash it nicely. Fry the rice and dal together in a pan with out oil.
  • Take the rice and dal in a pressure cooker; to this add milk (2cups), water (2cups), ghee (1cup), and pinch of salt and close the pressure. Cook this for 3-5 whistles or until soft like pudding.
  • Heat another pan; add brown sugar (jaggery) (1cup) and water (1/2cup), when it melts transfer this to the cooking rice and stir well.
  • Now add the condensed milk (1/2cup), cardamom powder (1/2sp), roasted dry fruits (cashew nuts, almond and kiss miss) and ghee (2sp). Cock the sweet pongal for five more minutes until it becomes semi gravy.
  • Transfer the sweet pongal in to a serving plate and serve.
