Take chicken pieces (500g) in a bowl; add turmeric (1/2sp), salt (1sp), ginger paste (1sp), red chilli powder (2sp) and garlic paste (1sp) and mix thoroughly. Keep it in the refrigerator for 30 min to marinate.
Heat ghee (1sp) and oil in a pan (2sp); add cumin seeds (1/2sp), cloves (3-4), crushed green cardamoms (2-3), bay leaves, cinnamon (3-4) and ginger-garlic paste (1sp) fry for 1-2min.
Now add onions (1/4cup) and fry till lightly browned. Add red chilly powder (1sp) and add tomatoes (1/2cup), salt (to taste), and yogurt (1sp) and continue to fry for 2-3 minutes.
To this add rice (500g), marinated chicken pieces and mix well.
Add water (1lt) and bring it to a boil. To this add coriander leaves, garam masala (1sp).
Allow this to cook till both the chicken and rice are cocked well.
