Andhra Chepala Pulusu – Andhra Fish Curry – Fish Pulusu

  • 1 kg Rounded fish pieces
  • 1 cup Chopped onins
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 cups Tamarind juice (thick)
  • 2 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 5 tbsp Oil
  • 3 nos Green chillies
  • 1/2 cup Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 spring Curry leaves
  • 4 nos cloves
  • 2 nos cinnamon stick - Dalchini
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera
  • 1 no Cardamom - Elaichi
Fish Marination
  1. Soak the fish in the water with some rock salt for 5 min. Wash the fish under the running water to remove the odor.

  2. Drain the water from the fish

  3. Take the fish pieces in the bowl and add Turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.

  4. Marinate it for 30 min.

Pulusu preparation
  1. Heat the oil in heavy bottomed wide pan. Then add cloves, dalchini, jeera, cardamom, curry leaves and saute.

  2. Then add green chillies and onions. Fry them till they turned golden brown

  3. Then add Ginger garlic paste and fry for some time.

  4. Add the pieces and fry for 5min on a medium flame, repeat the same for other side carefully.

  5. Pour the tamarind juice on it, close the pan with lid and cook it for 5min

  6. Add garam masala and add the salt and chilli powder if needed. Pour some more water to cover the the fish pieces. Cook it for 5 more minutes.

  7. Add coriander leaves and cook the fish till you think it cooked or 15 min. Then switch of the stove.

  8. Have the Fish pulusu with rice or roti.
